Southwest Local School District’s fall athletic teams had a stellar season off as well as on the field. The William Henry Harrison High School students in the 10 fall sports teams merited an average 3.7 GPA (grade point average) for the first term, an all-time high.
According to Athletic Director Mark Meibers, “Not only are these students excelling in their sports, they are also doing great with academics, showing they truly are student-athletes. It’s important to note that all of the ten teams have a strong GPA, reflecting positively on the approximately 300 students.”
The teams include girls’ and boys’ golf, cheerleading, football, girls’ and boys’ cross country, girls’ and boys’ soccer, volleyball and girls’ tennis. GPAs for the teams range from 3.3 to 3.9 on a 4.0 scale.
Meibers adds, “We are so proud of our student-athletes at Harrison High School. It is evident they work so hard in the classroom and on the field. They challenge themselves to achieve and are showing how much they are capable of.”
